Spain’s Tamarit Motorcycles has taken out top honours in the Triumph Originals 2026 global custom build competition, securing 33% of the public vote alongside the highest combined score from an international expert judging panel.

Funnily enough, this was actually the bike we voted for here at onthrottle.co.nz—so we’re chuffed to see our pick take the crown! (Though we have to admit, the Chinese entry from BVL Garage gave it a serious run for its money).

The Winning Machine

Tamarit's custom Scrambler 400 XC won over voters and judges alike with its high-end execution, race-ready stance, and unique take on the competition’s 'Time Capsule' brief.

The Brief: Custom builders from Canada, China, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the USA were challenged to transform a Scrambler into a one-off machine inspired by an iconic era in the model's history.
The Design: Featuring a clean white finish, bold red race numbers, and Spanish design details, Tamarit captured the raw attitude of classic 1960s desert sleds while pushing modern engineering boundaries.
The Concept: Tamarit team leader Quique Berna described their philosophy as creating timeless, heritage-focused builds meant to stand the test of time—comparing the Scrambler's iconic versatility to a classic white T-shirt.

High Praise from the Experts

The judging panel was led by Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent alongside key industry figures, including Chase McQueen (grandson of legendary motorcycle icon Steve McQueen), bestselling author Eric Hendricx, German journalist Rolf Henniges, and Fonk Motorcycles co-founder Satoshi.

Chase McQueen highlighted the bike's aggressive stance: "Berna’s creation has guts. It looks light, tall, and ready—more race bike than custom... it has that old desert-racer attitude, which I respect."
Eric Hendricx praised its engineering: "The proportions are strong and Triumph DNA survives despite the scale of the transformation."

Thousands of enthusiasts cast their votes globally, celebrating six decades of custom Scrambler heritage and the outstanding craftsmanship of this year's international builders.
