We're not gonna lie, we love getting stuck in to a Lego set, especially if it's vaguely motorcycle adjacent. Now right on time for our Christmas wish list, Ducati and Lego have once again teamed up for something special based on the new Ducati Desmo450 MX.

nd the best part? It's officially confirmed for New Zealand and priced at just $99.99, making it an absolute must-have stocking stuffer for dirt bike fans young and old.

The passion for motocross takes shape, one brick at a time. The collaboration between Ducati and the LEGO Group has given rise to the new LEGO® Technic™ Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory set, which recreates the most high-performance and fully equipped motocross bike from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, bringing the excitement and adrenaline of off-road riding into the world of building.

The new LEGO Technic model marks another chapter in the collaboration between the two brands, which began in 2020 with a replica of the Panigale V4 R. The star of the new set is the Desmo450 MX Factory, the race-ready version of the Desmo450 MX, Ducati's first motocross bike featuring desmodromic valve timing, recently unveiled in its Model Year 2027 version.

The LEGO Technic model captures its design and sporty character, incorporating mechanical details and functions inspired by the original motorcycle. These include working steering, an engine with a mechanism driven by a chain connected to the rear axle, and functioning front and rear suspension, allowing builders to discover some of the mechanical principles behind how a motorcycle works.

Alessandro Cicognani, Licensing, Merchandising & Corporate Sponsorship Director of Ducati, shared the enthusiasm:

“With our entry into the off-road world, we have opened a new chapter in Ducati's history, bringing our racing DNA into new disciplines. We are particularly pleased that the LEGO Group has chosen the Desmo450 MX Factory to continue our collaboration, which began with the Panigale V4 R in 2020. Two very different motorcycles, yet both expressions of the same Ducati philosophy, built on innovation, performance and a passion for racing.”

Davide Cajani, Marketing Director di LEGO Italia, added:

“We are truly excited about this collaboration, which brings together two of Italians' great passions: building and motorcycles. It is the meeting of two much-loved brands, united by a strong identity and the ability to engage different communities of enthusiasts. This set celebrates what brings us together: a passion for engineering, attention to detail, and the pleasure of turning a passion into something to build and share.”

With its 457 pieces, the LEGO Technic set offers enthusiasts aged 10 and over an original way to discover the Ducati world, explore the fascination of mechanics and develop a passion for two wheels from an early age. Thanks to the LEGO Builder app, builders can also explore the model in 3D, rotate it, zoom in on details and follow the different assembly steps.

The collaboration between Ducati and the LEGO Group will take centre stage at Lucca Comics & Games 2026, taking place from 28 October to 1 November. At the MediaWorld stand in Piazza della Caserma, visitors will be able to see the Desmo450 MX Factory alongside the new LEGO Technic set, as well as a full-scale 1:1 replica of the Panigale V4 R, built entirely from LEGO bricks by LEGO® Certified Professional artist Riccardo Zangelmi.

Locally, the new LEGO Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory set (42238) carries a very wallet-friendly price tag of $99.99 NZD and will be available directly from LEGO.com, local LEGO® Stores, and selected New Zealand retailers.

Fingers crossed Santa gets the memo—because there is definitely space under the OnThrottle Christmas tree for one of these!
