Redefined 1200 Triple: More Grunt, Better Refinement

At the heart of the updated Tiger 1200 lineup is the latest evolution of Triumph’s 1160cc T-Plane triple engine. Output increases by 8 PS to a formidable 158 PS at 9,250 rpm, with peak torque resting at 130 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Crucially, Triumph engineers focused heavily on delivery low down in the rev range—giving the 2027 model stronger low-end pull for effortless slow-speed maneuvering and technical off-road work.

Key engine updates include:

  • Engine Internal Redesign: Revised cylinder head, new pistons, lighter inlet/exhaust valves, and a freer-flowing exhaust improve combustion efficiency and gas flow.

  • Smoother Power Delivery: Crankshaft and balancer shaft revisions optimize rotating mass, while updated gear ratios reduce crawl speed by 6 km/h for greater low-speed control.

  • Gearbox & Shaft Drive Refinement: The 6-speed transmission and low-maintenance shaft drive receive internal fine-tuning for smoother shifts and seamless transitions between throttle opening and closing.

Streamlined Chassis & SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX® Suspension

Triumph has refocused the Tiger 1200 line around dynamic, engaging road handling without sacrificing long-distance touring capabilities. Across all four models—GT Pro, Rally Pro, GT Explorer, and Rally Explorer—the chassis moves to a versatile 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup with 200 mm of suspension travel. (GT models feature cast aluminum wheels, while Rally versions sport rugged side-laced spoked wheels).

The standout chassis innovation is the debut of SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX® semi-active suspension:

  • Automatic Self-Lowering: The system automatically reduces rear suspension hydraulic pressure to lower the seat height by 30 mm as you come to a stop, restoring optimal ride height within seconds as you pull away.

  • Low Seat Compatibility: Combined with two-position seat adjustment and an optional low seat, the standstill seat height can drop to an accessible 790 mm.

  • Selectable Damping Modes: On-the-fly damping control offering Firm, Medium, and Soft settings independent of riding modes.

  • Centre Stand Assist: The suspension temporarily boosts preload when deploying the center stand, making it dramatically easier to lift a fully laden bike onto its stand.

Next-Gen Tech: Bosch Radar & Integrated Smartphone Mirroring

Triumph has overhauled the Tiger’s cockpit, making it one of the most technologically advanced adventure bikes on the market.

  • 7-Inch HD Touchscreen: Featuring an optically bonded, anti-glare display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Riders can control navigation, calls, and media via switchcubes while riding, touchscreen at low speeds, or voice control (Siri / Google Gemini).

  • Cooled Phone Compartment: Integrated into the top of the fuel tank, featuring airflow channels, a cooling fan, and a USB-C fast charger (up to 3A/15W).

  • Bosch Radar ARAS Suite: Front and rear radar support a whole host of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems:

    • Adaptive Cruise Control & Group Ride Assist

    • Forward Collision Warning & Emergency Brake Assist

    • Blind Spot Assist & Rear Distance Warning

  • Adaptive LED Headlight: Projector headlight featuring lean-angle sensitive cornering lights and automated beam height adjustment based on suspension load.
