Triumph Motorcycles are set to take on Red Bull Romaniacs with the Tiger 900 Rally Pro adventure bike

After a brilliant debut for the English brand in the world of Hard Enduro at the annual Erzbergrodeo in Austria - where he finished in 6th place aboard a 4-stroke TF 250-E - Triumph ambassador Jonny Walker has set his sights on Red Bull Romaniacs and is ramping up the difficulty for himself by taking the 900cc Triumph Tiger Rally Pro instead of his usual TF 250-E.
Lining up alongside Walker will be former Dakar Rally champion, Sam Sunderland who will also take on the challenge.
"I’ve raced Romaniacs plenty of times, so it’s cool to be going back in a completely different way racing the Tiger 900 which I’m really excited about, explains Walker.
"I’m pretty confident, I think it will be fun and of course the main goal is to win the Adventure Ultimate class. It’s going to be totally different to anything I’ve done before, and probably a bit more enjoyable on the big bike!"
While he's not as experienced in the hills of Romania, Sam Sunderland shares Walker's excitement.
"It’s super exciting to be taking on such an iconic hard enduro race, he said. "The adventure classes are a great way to get involved and I can’t wait to get out to Romania to get stuck in. It’s more similar to what I have done in rally-raid in the past, especially with the five-day format, and I’m looking forward to getting into race mode again. My Triumph Tiger 900 will be pretty much standard, so it’s going to be cool to put it to the test.”

Triumph's head of Global Racing Programmes, Ian Kimber, know its going to be a tough race for the two British racers aboard the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, but is confident in his riders ability to show just what Triumph's middleweight adventure machine is capable of.
"I’m really excited to have Jonny and Sam entering the legendary Red Bull Romaniacs race for Triumph, he explains. "They’re both experts in their respective fields, but piloting the Tiger 900 Rally Pro in the Adventure classes will show everyone not just what they are made of, but also what the Tiger can do in the extreme environments. It’s going to be a tough race, but I know the lads will come out swinging as they take on the challenge of this iconic event."
Red Bull Romaniacs kicks off with the Prolog on Tuesday 22 July, followed by four gruelling offroad days in some of the toughest terrain imaginable. We can't wait to see how the Triumph team do!
