It's been a long wait for Triumph Scrambler fans wanting a smaller capacity yet tough offering to join the lineup, and that's finally happened with the introduction of the cool new Scrambler 400 XC.
Priced in New Zealand from $10,995, the new Scrambler 400 XC adds the long awaited tubeless spoked wheels for extra durability on tough terrain, along with a host of other parts to make it really stand out from the base Scrambler 400 X.
Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer, Triumph Motorcycles said “The Triumph
Scrambler 400 XC has been a huge hit with customers in India and there is clear
demand for this model across the rest of the world too. With improved off-road capability
and Scrambler attitude, plus three new, stylish colour schemes, we hope this model will
appeal to even more riders, further enhancing and extending the appeal of the Triumph
brand for the next generation.”
The new model is available in three fresh, contemporary colour schemes – Racing
Yellow, Storm Grey and Vanilla White. Each design features distinctive graphics, with a
black Triumph logo, matching the black tank infills with knee pads and a black two-piece
rider and pillion seat.
Powering the new Scrambler 400 XC is Triumph's TR-series single-cylinder engine with no change in power specs - remaining at 40PS and 37.5Nm of peak grunt - which is more than enough to make the lightweight 186kg Scrambler feel lively out on the road.
Unfortunately for those wanting even better suspension Triumph hasn't gone quite that far with the new 400 XC - but considering its price point and where it sits in the market going harry hard nuts on the springers would quickly put it out of reach of its target audience. A dirt bike it is not but it should still be more than capable of taking riders off the pavement with ease.
Where Triumph really seems to have nailed the new 400 XC is the colours, with all three appearing to be great lookers straight out of the box. Available in Racing Yellow, Storm
Grey and Vanilla White, with each featuring colour matched high front mudguards and fly screens, the new Scrambler looks utterly fantastic in our books.
