To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R1000R, Suzuki is dropping a brand new GIXXER to mark the occasion!

Suzuki is on a bit of a roll at the moment, bringing back models we thought we'd seen the end of. First, the Hayabusa got a big update, then the new fuel-injected DR-Z4S was revealed to replace the carby hero that was the long-lived DR-Z400E, and now the ICONIC GSX-R1000R is making a comeback for its 40th anniversary.
Due for release in the third quarter of 2026, the new GSX-R1000R looks to maintain its reputation as “The King of Sportbikes,” now enhanced by introducing advanced electronic control systems that empower riders to push their limits with confidence and precision, along with complying with the latest emissions and noise regulations.
The GSX-R1000 comes fully equipped for the street, but remove the mirrors, license plate, and tape the lights, and it’s ready for closed-course action.

Set to be available in three striking colours with 40th anniversary logos, including the obligatory GSX-R Blue/White/Red combo, the new GSX-R1000R brings plenty of updates for its anniversary year.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but we expect it to be revealed ahead of the bike's arrival next year.
So what has changed for the 40th Anniversary GIXXER? Here's the key updates straight off the Suzuki press release.

KEY FEATURES
EURO 5+ Emissions level
The compression ratio is increased to 13.8:1. The piston heads were reshaped to increase
the compression ratio and accommodate the larger exhaust valve diameter. The rib shape on the underside of the piston heads was changed for increased durability also reducing weight by 3 grams.
The crankshaft and crankcase adopts a new design with thicker journals, (increased from 35 mm to 37 mm), designed to accommodate higher loads.
The new throttle bodies are light and compact, with a larger bore (48 mm versus 46 mm) to enhance engine output
A number of updates were applied to the 4-2-1 Euro-compliant exhaust system. Enlarging the diameter of the exhaust pipe contributes to maintaining output . In conjunction, a larger capacity elliptical (“racetrack-shaped”) catalytic converter in the collector is positioned closer to the engine to facilitate quicker warming, which helps improve its performance. A pair of O2 sensors positioned in front and behind the catalytic converter help in complying with Euro 5+ emission regulations
The ABS unit has been changed to Astemo’s more compact and lighter unit, reducing weight by 51g over the unit on the previous model. The fairing’s under cowl was reshaped on both the left and right sides to match the new muffler layout. The changes include enlarging the notch on the right side and eliminating the hole on the left side.
The fuel tank cap was changed to black and the O-ring was changed.
