Yamaha Motor New Zealand has announced details and opened registrations for the 2021 Tenere Tour.
Open to owners of 2020’s top-selling Tenere 700 only, the 2021 Tenere Tour is set to take on the wonders of the upper South Island Over April 7-10th.
Yamaha NZ are promising the tour will give riders an experience to remember with some of New Zealand’s most stunning riding on offer.
Hanmer Springs will mark the start and finish for the tour allowing riders to explore Nelson, Tasman and the Marlborough districts with overnight stops at Moteuka and mountain Havelock.
Riders will experience South Island adventure riding at its best as we guide you through D 'Urville Island a couple of large stations along the route.
Once again leading the tour is Ben Townley’s 101 Adventures with over 1000kms of adventure riding, included in the route is access to private land including and some difficult breakout routes for riders who wish to challenge themselves.
Pricing for the Tenere Tour is set at $1190 + GST ($1368.50 inc. GST) and includes guides, mechanical support and dinners. Riders also receive a gift pack and GPS files for the adventure. Accommodation is not included.
It does seem like a missed opportunity for Yamaha to really connect with owners, however, with Yamaha and 101 Adventures choosing to limit the New Zealand Tenere Tour to just owners riding the Tenere 700. In Australia, Yamaha runs an event called “Tenere Tragics” with the event open to all generations of the Tenere and generally regarded as a highly successful event.
Update: 101 Adventure’s Lucy Townley informed OnThrottle.co.nz that there are plans for a less exclusive Yamaha Adventure Tour in the works.
“The Tenere Tour is exclusively for T7 owners, we are planning with Yamaha Motor NZ to have rally for all Yamaha adventure models.”
