Peugeot XP400 Adventure Scooter confirmed for New Zealand

It’s fair to say that the Peugeot brand largely flies under the radar in the New Zealand motorcycle scene, but that could soon change with the brand announcing the imminent arrival of the XP400 maxi-scooter.

Pre-orders for the 400cc machine - the largest in the local lineup - have just opened with a special introductory price of $16,990 for the base XP400 Allure with the GT model priced from $500 more. Deposits on the new model are fully refundable with the first units expected to arrive later this year.

Falling into the larger side of the scooter market, at the heart of the stylish XP400 is Peugeot’s 400cc PowerMotion® Engine which transfers power to the rear wheel via a CVT transmission. Power is a claimed 36.7hp at 8,150rpm while torque is listed as 38.1Nm at 5,400rpm.

The XP400 boasts an 815mm seat height while weight is listed at a hefty 231 kilos with a full 13.5-litre tank of fuel. Despite this, fuel economy is claimed to be just 3.8 litres per 100km.

Setting the two models apart is primarily colour options, with the XP400 Allure available in either Sideral Mat Black or Aurora Satin Green while the GT is available in Shark Grey or Snow White. The Allure rolls on a set of alloy wheels in 15-inch and 17-inch sizing, while the GT utilises cross-spoked wheels in the same sizing to enhance the adventure aesthetics of the bike.

Braking is impressive, with twin 270mm discs up the front clasped by radially mounted calipers while the rear unit is mounted to a 240mm disc.

Naturally, being scooters the XP400s don’t lack handy amenities with under-seat storage able to accommodate a full-face helmet while a dual compartment lockable glove box also features a handy 12V power socket.

Tech-wise, the XP400s both feature integrated connectivity and i-Connect technology offer a smart dashboard with a colour TFT screen. Linked to the Peugeot Motocycles app, it can provide turn-by-turn guidance, journey details, and SMS notifications

Urban Moto Imports will be backing the new Peugeot with a 2-year unlimited km factory warranty and 2 years of roadside assistance, giving prospective owners the peace of mind that no matter where they go, they’re covered for any journey-related uncertainties.
