New Zealand Husky Trek On The Cards

Husqvarna Motorcycles just wrapped up its third Australian Husky Trek, which took to the hills of South-Eastern Queensland in August.

This year’s event offered over fifty-five Norden 901 and 701 Enduro riders and twenty-five Husqvarna Motorcycles staff an epic experience over five days and 1800km exploring the beautiful South-East Queensland countryside.

With the weather causing chaos in the lead-up to the Trek, it was a welcome surprise to be greeted by sunshine and blue skies each morning of the event, which started and finished at the iconic Bunya Mountains.

Coming off last year’s Northern Explorer Husky Trek, which was held in the Northern NSW region, this year's edition added an extra day and a new model, with the introduction to the Husqvarna Motorcycles adventure family of the Norden 901.

Riders were treated to a vast array of terrain, from flowing gravel roads to clay forest tracks, overgrown single track, tricky rocky creek crossings and even special access to private property.

Along with the outstanding route, riders were able to immerse themselves in the adventure experience with full support offered by the Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia crew – including luggage, technical and medical support, as well as lead riders clearing the track and sweep riders bringing up the rear to ensure all got to the nightly home base with a smile on their face.

The Husky Trek boasts a unique aspect of being the sole Husky-only adventure ride in the World, meaning riders experience the thrills of the trail and nightly atmosphere with like-minded adventurers, offering a rare and distinctive camaraderie.

One of these riders was world-adventure traveller and Husqvarna Motorcycles ambassador, Lyndon Poskitt, who made the journey down under from Spain and had an absolute blast experiencing the Trek alongside the Aussie Husky crew.

The idea of a brand-only adventure ride is not a strange one to Kiwis or Aussies, but so far the Husky Trek has yet to make its way to New Zealand. That looks to be about to change, however, with Husqvarna Australia and New Zealand’s Rosie Lalonde confirming to Kiwi Rider an event is in the planning stages.

“We are working through the initial plans now, however, are very excited to hopefully be announcing very soon a #HuskyTrekNZ event for our Kiwi customers … Stay Tuned!”
