Limited Edition Indian Scout Confirmed for NZ

As the first motorcycle company to emerge from the USA – and despite its rather shaky history since its foundation in 1901 – Indian Motorcycle has plenty to celebrate as it moves into the 2020 model year.

In particular, one model has Indian celebrating at the moment with 2020 being the 100th anniversary of the Indian Scout which entered production as a 2020 model year bike.

“The Indian Scout has stood the test of time as one of the most influential, iconic and recognisable motorcycles in the world,” says Reid Wilson, Vice President for Indian Motorcycle. “100 years is an incredibly special milestone, and it made perfect sense to honour Scout’s history and legacy with these two heritage-inspired 2020 models.”

To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the model, Indian is producing a limited run of 750 Scout 100th Anniversary models for general release based on the current  Scout reintroduced to the market.

The special anniversary edition takes styling further styling cues from the original Scout, highlighted in its Indian Motorcycle Red with Anniversary Gold trim paint scheme and colour-matched Scout 100th Anniversary badge.

Also setting the 100th Anniversary bike apart from its regular Scout stablemates are finishing touches including a Desert Tan Genuine Leather Solo Saddle Seat, Black Wire Wheels, Beach Bars, Luggage Rack and chrome finishes to complete the heritage-inspired throwback styling – and New Zealand will officially be seeing the new Scout model in dealerships.

Polaris Industries spokesman Nathan Moore told Kiwi Rider that all NZ Dealers will receive 1 or 2 examples of the special edition bike, with pricing yet to be announced.

Indian will also be releasing a special version of the Scout Bobber, the Scout Twenty (as 1920) will not be a limited run model and features wire wheels and a floating saddle in a nod to the original Scout.

Being a bobber it distinguishes itself from the regular Scout line with shortened rear fender and a tidy headlight cowling. The Bobber Twenty also comes with 10-inch ape hanger handlebars and a mix of chrome and blacked-out finishes.
