MY27 Beta XTrainer 300 Confirmed for NZ: What’s New for 2027

Beta NZ has confirmed the MY27 XTrainer range is on its way to New Zealand, with the updated bikes expected to arrive at authorised dealers this October.

Red-clad dirt biker rides a red motorcycle through a narrow forest trail in sunlit woods.

Having built a reputation as one of the most approachable enduro platforms on the market, the XTrainer has built a reputation for doing a bit of everything well—friendly enough for newer off-road riders, yet capable and nimble when the trails turn steep, tight, and technical. For 2027, Beta has focused on a series of refinements aimed at making that “easy to ride, hard to outgrow” formula even better.

NZ gets the 300cc model (for now)

While some overseas markets will see multiple engine sizes, Beta Motorcycles New Zealand says the initial local release will focus exclusively on the best-selling XTrainer 300. The new 200cc variant won’t be made available here at this stage.

What’s new on the MY27 XTrainer 300

The headline changes for the MY27 300 include a mix of functional updates and a sharper look. Beta has introduced a redesigned headlight and mask, updated the chain guide and front sprocket guard, and rolled out fresh graphics. The biggest visual change is also a first for the model: a black frame, giving the XTrainer a more aggressive stance.

Key features that define the XTrainer platform

Beyond the MY27 updates, the XTrainer 300 continues to lean into the traits that have made it so popular:

  • Ultra-lightweight, agile feel that suits everything from trail rides to hard enduro-style terrain

  • Lower seat height (around 20mm lower than the RR range) to boost confidence in tricky sections

  • Fully adjustable R16V suspension, with tuning options front and rear

  • Beta Progressive Power Valve, allowing riders to tailor the 2-stroke delivery to conditions and preference

  • Automatic oil injection, so there’s no need to premix fuel

  • Standard cooling fan for slow-speed, technical riding

  • Soft-compound tyres for improved traction and a smoother ride

  • Electric start for quick restarts when it counts

The XTrainer has long been a Kiwi favourite, with demand frequently exceeding supply, so it's great to hear that Beta Motorcycles NZ have also secured extra numbers of the MY27 Xtrainer 300 to hopefully ensure nobody misses out on this great wee trail machine.

We've personally had a blast using the ultra lightweight and agile Xtrainer in the tougher trails of Taupo's Berm Buster trail rider, where the friendly little 2-stroke made light work of trails we'd normally think twice about. Check out our YouTube channel for our ride impressions.

Availability and pricing

Beta NZ expects the MY27 XTrainer 300 to land in October. Pricing and final local specifications will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date. Riders keen to be first in line are encouraged to contact their local authorised Beta dealer to register interest.
